Introduction

When verses throughout the Bible are combined with excluded manuscripts and modern scientific discoveries, key words in Genesis chapters 1-11 and some portions of Exodus will reveal the scope of each verse, and the Bible can be deciphered.

Chapter 1 Alpha and Omega

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

The definitions of the terms “beginning,” “God,” “created,” “heaven,” and “earth” provide essential information for comprehending subsequent concepts. These definitions clarify the origins, the nature of God, the meaning of creation, the location and inhabitants of heaven, and the true nature of earth.

Chapter 2 “Six Days”

Genesis 1:2 – 1:31

This chapter is divided into six sections, one for each creation day. It analyses the relevant verses and discusses how biblical accounts relate to creation and evolution questions. The text suggests the Bible supports the Big Bang theory and provides insights into our origins on a young planet.

Chapter 3 The Sabbath

Genesis 2:1 – 2:3

The seventh day was intended as a “rest” for humankind. Nothing has been created since the eve of the sixth day, so it is still the seventh day. This rest is a short pause in the breath of God.

Chapter 4 The LORD God

Genesis 2:4 – 2:6

Scholars have traditionally posited that the initial chapters of Genesis were authored by two distinct individuals, citing variations in literary style as evidence. This interpretation may be influenced by potential mis-definitions of key terms such as “generations,” “heavens,” “LORD God,” “created,” and “made.”

Chapter 5 The Potter and the Clay

Genesis 2:7

According to various religious traditions, including the biblical account, Adam was formed from clay, symbolising humanity’s connection to the physical world. In scientific discourse, Homo sapiens represent a significant development in human evolution, sometimes considered a “missing link” in the origin of mankind. Some scientific theories have proposed that modern humans may exhibit evidence of genetic modification, which aligns with certain interpretations of biblical texts.

Chapter 6 The Garden of Eden

Genesis 2:8 – 2:14

Geographic details are included in these verses as to where the Garden of Eden was located. Adam was born and cared for in this ‘cradle of civilization” and was surrounded by many beautiful trees. Two of these” trees” are highly symbolic of man’s enlightenment and of living the cosmic union of body and soul.

Chapter 7 Adam’s Rib

Genesis 2:15 – 2:25

Adam was created from the earth and endowed with a soul, distinguishing him from other hominids and animals.

We are just beginning to understand Eve’s genetic origins; it is advanced science, not magic or mystery. Genetic engineering has existed for some time.

Chapter 8 Paradise Lost

Genesis 3:1 – 3:24

The Fall of Adam and Eve

These verses suggest that we subconsciously long for a lost paradise. The story of Adam and Eve symbolizes the ongoing human choice between good and evil, implying that our thoughts play a role in keeping paradise out of reach.

Chapter 9 Giants and Men of Renown

Genesis 4:1 – 6:4

The Legacy of Cain and Abel

The story of Cain and Abel highlights human potential and the lasting impact of our decisions. This chapter prompts reflection on a time of great danger for the earth, emphasizing the importance of learning from past mistakes.

Chapter 10 Shem, Ham and Japheth

Genesis 6:5 – 11:10

The Rise of Wickedness and Noah’s Grace

The story of Noah and the ark contains both factual and mythical elements, though it is often accepted as truth globally. Natural laws make a worldwide flood impossible; some interpret the Bible as describing an earthquake and tidal wave rather than a global flood.

Chapter 11 Jasher

The Book of Jasher: A Lost Perspective

The Book of Jasher is an ancient text that was reportedly discovered in the region now known as Iran around 700 A.D. Some of its accounts differ from those found in the books of Moses. According to tradition, Jasher was familiar with Moses, accompanying him regularly and serving as his assistant. This chapter presents information that may be of interest to Bible readers and historians.

Chapter 12 The Breath of God

The cosmos is expanding, a phenomenon acknowledged by the scientific community. However, the duration of this expansion and whether the universe will eventually begin to contract remain unanswered questions in science. Different perspectives, including religious and philosophical interpretations, offer various explanations about humanity’s role and place in the universe. Genesis tells us that the cosmos will expand and contract, and then it will expand again – Forever!
