Genesis: The Third Heaven

sunrise background with text

“In the beginning God created the heaven….”

Let us briefly recap the beginning to understand more clearly the creation of heaven.

In the first verse in the first book of the Bible, creation had not yet begun. It is a statement that presents the fact that in the beginning of time, as we know it, there was God and only God. There was nothing else (if one can imagine that), and there is no better place for a profound statement than in the first verse of the Word of God.

The third heaven, or the heaven of heavens, always was. It is the central sphere of the Light from which all things were created, and that is God. The Bible refers to it as the throne of God.

Throughout the King James Bible, the third heaven (the heaven of heavens) is always in the singular (with no s). It is truly the heaven of heavens and it was this celestial heaven that was established and populated first.
